Chem Sharp is a unique chemical sharpener for tungsten electrodes. It will sharpen any tungsten electrode to a perfect point with a minimum amount of time and absolutely no grinding. This is very important when doing critical work that cannot be contaminated by an improper grinding technique. The operator can resharpen right at the welding station without having to get up and move to a grinder. Points are smooth and precise

  • Well I have a grinder and do not want to dedicate the one side to my tungsten so this works great for me. Glad I saw this. Bought it,,,,used it....love it. Thanks man! My grinder is free to use to whatever forever....

  • @Unrelenting1

Glad to hear that you are enjoying the product. I know that a lot of grinder guys won't change, but this really does to a great job. I try to make a habit of sharpening at least a half dozen tungstens in advance so if one of them gets contaminated, I really don't have to take much time out of the job to replace the tungsten and get back to work. The Chem Sharp is so inexpensive that it's a good way to sharpen up your tungsten. Especially if you use Thoriated (no dust to deal with)

  • or you can get a drill and take all your tungsten to a belt sander and be done 10 pieces in the time it took you to do one, sweet

  • @SuperManDingos Additionally, the time required to use Chem Sharp is roughly 30 to 45 seconds. Hardly a time waster. While I understand Hyberbole, I think you need to rethink the time aspect that you propose.

  • A drill and a fine stone on a pedestal/bench grinder is the fastest way I have found. If I require a "perfect" sharpening, my hands and the pedestal/bench grinder win every time.

This is interesting, but I do not see any benefit.

    Good video.

  • @SuperManDingos That's cool, but you probably never tried Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream either. After all that Regular Vanilla was just fine LOL! Hey, to each their own. I just put it out there, it's up to the individual to give it a try or not.

  • @JHV166 "if it aint broke dont fix it" i pretty much stand by that

  • @SuperManDingos Have you ever considered trying a new technique? That's how we learn, that's how we improve. If you're satisfied with belt sander tungsten, then Chem Sharp isn't for you. If you want to learn a new technique, see if it improves your welding and produce a better end product, then you might want to risk a 10.00 bill on Chem Sharp.

  • @hydraman5

And have you looked at the typical hand sharpened tungsten? Most people aren't sharpening on a dedicated stone. Most aren't using a diamond wheel. The Chem Sharp leaves a perfectly smooth surface which is important to weldors who do precision work.
