Melissa's Shadow

I wrote this song in response to America's media obsession with weight and self worth. True peace with one's self does not come from external "beauty". Women are constantly bombarded with magazines and advertisements about finding self acceptance through manifesting the "perfect" body. What a lie! This song is about a woman who finally got that body and is just as empty inside as she ever was.

It is an octave mandolin. I've actually been playing only about a year but I guess I'm gifted. It's a very inspiring instrument. I'm really glad you liked the song, I think it's one of my best melodies touching on a very relevant issue to this time in history... women and weight.

I don't know that Melissa can heal. She's missed the mark completely about what is important in life. It's not the outside, it's the INSIDE that one can find peace and self knowing. The song is meant to show the wrong path to feeling better about yourself. The right path is still being discovered...
