  • You had me going, untill you brought in your own beliefs about homosexualism. Because your personal belief differes from that of what the station is trying to convey, you are attacking them. Granted all your other arguments are credible, and this may be too, however there is nothing wrong with exposing gay marrigae to youth, as opposed to the other practaces that CH1 employs. the 49 to 50 ratio is not evidence of CH1's 'brainwashing' but rather the sum of all the influences on american youth

  • I can appreciate your position. My point about the gay marriage stories on Channel One is that this is a very sensitive issue and local schools and their communities should be the ones to decide how this is discusses. At least Channel One should have given schools a "head's up" before broadcasting the stories. Also it makes no sense for the same content to be for 6th graders as seniors. It is hard to argue that age range is able to process information the same.

  • I worked w/ channel one a few years ago & had the privilege of producing 2 stories w/ public schools in Detroit & Cali. So, obviously this man is confused when he makes the incorrect statement that channel one has never been inside a public school to get the news. He is also incorrect in his assumption of their location. Someone that makes such remarks without getting the basic information correct is obviously not a very good source to get information from. There's no puzzle to solve here.

  • I have no idea what "swingdancer" is talking about. C1N regularly films in schools. I never said they didn't. As far as "location" I have no clue as to what this person is referring to. Producing a story for C1 is no big deal. The audience HAS to watch no matter if your story is good or bad. I hope this person's stories were less sloppy than this post.

  • I would watch Channel One every day when I was in high school. I only found it to be informative and interesting, not offensice. The polls only expressed the views of the viewers, not of Channel One. The program allowed high school and middle school students to be informed and gave a chance for interaction!

This man needs to do his research and find something important to get out of our corrupt society!

  • mlewelly,

If you watched from 9th to 12th grade, C1 cost you four weeks of instructional time.

You shouldn't be upset with me. You should be upset with your school board and principal. Whether you are in a job or in college you are now competing against young people who didn't waste their time watching Lite News, movie commercials, and Plays of the Week. Channel One News is used mainly as an electronic babysitter mainly for middle schools.

  • My favorite commercial was when that guy was ordering food and he said something about "got eggs?!" then he just drove off and hit a little kid on his bike LOL

  • all they have is negative news and inappropiate topics

  • yea cause heaven forbid any gay mindless children find comfort in hearing of happy gay futures. if u play by these rules why not just ban all tv programs?

  • yup same here. its only for like 10 minets. if you dont want to watch it you can do your home work

  • we only watch it during homeroom here.

  • How is the gay marriage approval poll of students in any way relevant. High School students need to be able to form and question opinions about "Hot Button" topics on their own. Just because it differs from your views does not make it good or bad.

I had CH1 in middle school and high school. There are topics that I feel should not be in the middle school setting, but high school kids about to enter the world need to learn how to gather and process information to form rational conclusions.

  • Channel One...a poor excuse for Cable in the Classroom. Their focus is not on news, it is on selling, selling, selling, ads, ads, ads, more ads. It's important for youth to see the news, but these Channel One people aren't even showing the news as much as blatant corporate shilling in the schools.

  • we dont watch it for an hour we watch it for 10 minutes.

  • Oh god thank the lord an adult who shares our pain! We can do something now!
