FINALLY, A SIMPLE EXPLANATION!

I am not a metal drummer, but have never been happy with my Samba on the bass drum. I either just "don't have it" that day, or tire out quickly and have to switch to a modified bass pattern. But using this "heal toe" tech is wonderful!
The downside is I fee like I need to relearn everything all over again! My instinct is to lead with the toe, but I need to relearn to lead with my HEEL in time...and it is HELL! I feel like a noob again! But once I get the coordination down it'll be sweet!

either my feet are too big for this technique, or my kick pedal is too small. are all kick pedals generally the same length?

if like me your feel are too big to get the heel hit on the pedal then just angle your foot slightly and it works like a charm.
