Janet Kuypers was the finale feature at the St. Paul's Cultural Center in Chicago, with a performance of poems read at the upstairs desanctified church (she actually performed in a church, with a large painting of Jesus Christ behind her, and a large pipe organ to the side while she read her poetry). The show (of 4 poets) was scheduled to start on November 5th of 2008. With an introduction by Charlie Newman (host of the evening and host of the weekly open mike in Chicago on Tuesdays at the Cafe), Kuypers read (per her usual style) many pieces concerning death, but she interspersed her longer pieces with more entertaining shorter poems (to vary the mood of the show during the evening). This video clip is of one of the poems she read in thie finale performance in a desanctified church.
Kuypers also released a chapbook of potential poems she would read for this feature, which can be downloaded for free at http://scars.tv/pdf/2008/st-pauls11-05-08chap.pdf through Scars Publications.
