  • Wow you are making a lot of power what are you using? Solar panels or wind generator or what?

  • @shartne solar electric (pv) panels

  • @shartne This is in the winter. I work for a solar energy installer that installs roof & ground-mounted solar electric panels. We size systems to power up to 100% of a home's energy needs. Because the sun only shines during the day, the panels will will spin the meter backwards all day long, and then it will slowly spin forwards again at night, drawing power from the grid. You can visit our website by typing in "Sunlight Solar" into google.

  • how many panels did it take to make it spin backwards???

  • @Sawah712 How many watts of solar panels do you have or how much do they make? Is your AC running or is this in the winter?

  • just looked it up the electric company has to pay you for the energy you produce

  • um so your giving away electricity charge the electric compant per kilo watt monthly

  • ...It sounds like you have an "off-grid" or battery based inverter. You also need a net meter installed by the utility company in order to record forwards and backwards movement.

  • If you connect the inverter to a breaker in your home's service panel, the inverter will feed the breaker. Then, instead of drawing electricity from your home and spinning your meter forwards, that breaker will feed electricity from the inverter and spin your meter backwards. The inverter has to be "grid-tied," otherwise, the utility company will not allow it. ...

  • I have a few solar panels myself that charge batteries which I use through an inverter to operate lights and appliances. What I'd like to understand is how you connect the inverter output to your home electrical wireing. does the inverter output connect directly to the in house wireing? does the invertet voltage need to be slightly higher than that coming into the home?
