do you play somewhere over the rainbow?

I don't know how to read sheet musics... But it's possible to play violin without read sheet, right? :s

I play by ear all the time and think it's a great skill that should be developed. The more you're on the instrument and the more you attempt to play by ear the easier it becomes. Suzuki violin students are often particularly good at this skill.

Folk fiddlers almost ALWAYS play by ear and even look down on players who use sheet music either to learn or perform.

on the first 7 notes is it the same string?

Yes, if you play the E with a 4th finger - which I recommend here since you are not crossing strings.

thanks for your hard work ! I just managed to finished this piece during my final exam period. and I have to say I found those kind of Etude better than what is on suzuki. I felt that I benefit a lot from the Etude, and the melody is nice too.

Hell ProV, 1st, I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!

I just started playing the violin a few weeks ago and Im completly passionate about it. Next year will be time for college and I was hoping of enrolling in the music departement... the audition is in March 2010 and im required to do: Scales and Arpeggios : G and A major, B minor , 3 octaves, with various bowings, One etude and two pieces. I am willing to make all the effort necessary to get into that class but I was just wondering is it remotly possible??

the 4th finger won't be a problem if you don't move your whole hand like you say to. Just move the second finger back

Thank you for posting this. I have just finshed practicing this etude. I have not played the violin in a while and I wanted to get back in the swing of things and I thought these etudes would be a great chance for me to dust off my skills. And, they have worked so far. I find your tips to very good and I us them tomorrow when I pratice. Thank you!

about what suzuki level is this first etude? do you think a student who has finished book 1 is ready for this?
