@josh198869 Which school system does your mom work for? I do know some school systems probably still have buses from the 80s but I know Baltimore County runs buses on regularly assigned runs from when they are brand new until 8-9 years of age. Then after that they run as spare buses for a couple of years and once they hit 12 they get auctioned off.
25 years old for the oldest fleet? Wow. I know the school system I attended the oldest units are now days 11 years old and once they hit 12 they are auctioned off and replaced with new equipment. And units older then 9 years are placed as spare units in the event a unit from 0-9 years old has mechanical failure or is in for scheduled maintenance during the drivers run time. I always hated having a spare bus in middle/high school as they were old and the regular bus was a newer model.
@mikeMBW Wow that's unreal. Did you know that buses that are regarded too old to be used for public transport CAN still be used for school buses! That's right! It's in law! After a certain age they absolutely can not be used f to transport members of the public, but you can fill 'em up with school kids! Gotta love those law makers huh!
@cadifan Fair call mate - respect for others and/or property is an issue for many youth in NZ - not all though. Had a gripe with a 'large' bus company about a year ago - they sent a bus to transport 46 of our students to camp without a COF or registration. The company asked why we refused to allow them onto the bus...
I wish Telfair county Georgia had buses like that
