Plenty can't play that scale? Why would you even say such a nonsense thing? As if expression in music can be deduced down to a trivial scale..Mind telling me why a balance is needed as long as ppl like the sounds ? It's not about being different. It's actually really cool how something, not traditionally considered to be a musical sound, can affect the listener. The Stones were as important to the identities of rock n roll and pop as Animal Collective is to the developing identities of art rock and experimental pop. Both have had absolutely genius insights on using music to relate both difficult messages and complex, ineffable emotions. Cut the silly comparisons and just enjoy the works of the geniuses in both bands.

amen to that man. the stones were making money that was producer driven. most big bands were then just like they are now. no expression at all. almost inhuman jargon on those bs records.
