It takes a large volume of air to launch a grenade. This means you have to have a compressed air chamber full of air on the launcher. That would make an undermount luncher to big. I've actually made a very small launcher that is a bouncing betty tripwire mine. So I could make an undermount launcher but it would be too big for on-gun use in my opinion. I've seen a few guys use them but they look rediculous.

All paint grenades have a safety and a trigger. The safety is what keeps the grenade from going off while you carry it. The trigger is what comes off when the grenade hits the ground allowing it to spray paint. On the BT grenades the safety is the pull-pin and the trigger is a rubber ring placed over the bent tubing of the grenade. So yea, You have to leave the pin in until you're ready to use it.

@wcjcnc How do paint grenades work? Is the pin even needed? And would it be possible to fire one from a 40mm undermount?
-
You should also lose the black plastic cap. It's not needed. Oh, and stop using metal pull-pins. Most commercial paintball fields are banning any metal parts on paintball grenades especially the pull-pins. People leave them on the field and they stick into player's hands, forearms, and knees. The metal pull-pins also cause flats on the Quads the staff members use to get around on the field. Use a flexible nylon pull-pin.

There's a design flaw in these grenades that causes them to not work alot of the time. They use a piece of rubber tubing as the trigger ring. It's under the black plastic cap. That piece of rubber tubing sticks to the tubing the grenade is made out of and it's also too tight. This keeps it from popping off like it should. BT, listen to me!!! I've been making paintball grenades for 10 years. Replace that piece of rubber tubing you're using for the trigger ring with a solid plastic ring.
