None of us should be afraid to experience our deepest emotions...but most of us are. In fact some of us attempt or commit suicide in order to avoid them. Conditioned to ignore, discount, deny, and bury strong and/or painful emotions we have, through disuse, lost our tolerance for their natural intensity. We increase our tolerance when we practice skills that enable us to efficiently and effectively feel our feelings and access our unconscious emotions. When we conscientiously observe the thoughts, memories, and images that arise during discharge, we give our brains the opportunity to "pull it all together" and we relax our bodies and refresh our minds. We even "liberate" our mirror neurons so that we can feel empathy and compassion for all forms of life including ourselves. To me, emotional discharge practice is better than chicken soup (for the soul). It's nutrient-dense food for our own evolution.
