First time I saw Bloodlust I was blown away at how superior it is to the 80s film in every conceivable way. Like comparing the new BSG to the 70s Galactica. All your points are right on the mark.
The only drawback was the version I watched had horrible audio mixing, so SFX were way too loud and dialogue far too soft, and there was no subtitle option. (I'm not a sub purist and the Western voice acting was actually quite good, but it was really hard to hear them.)

Very good review! I have very good memories of the 80's era VHD, Memories that are better than the actual anime. Nostalgia is a funny thing.
