In this case, Orange Whip refers to the branded, bottled, non-alcohol drink. The daughter of the VP of the Orange Whip Corporation was a costumer for the film and he provided soft drinks for the cast and crew free for the product placement. Landis instructed Candy to ad-lib it in somewhere. It wasn't part of the script.

I actually knew a Parole Officer who was just as much of a smarmy dick as Burton Mercer. I don't think people realize just how accurate Candy's performance is in this film. Maybe he knew the same guy! LOL

BlackLabel (a year later...) yes, as a fella born in '72 and drinker of many Orange Whips, I can confirm they made it 'til at least the late 70's.
