Shutter expert Sam Dunster, owner of http://www.opennshut.co.uk, shows you how to make paper templates so you can easily measure bay windows for DIY plantation shutters.

New versions of this video are now available to watch if you ask Sam.

Most handles on double glazed bays protrude by 35mm, so you will need to allow for a batten to be fitted around the window first, generally the batten is 40mm deep.

The shutter frame will then fit to the batten. You will need to work out where the front of the shutter frame finishes at the corners and sides allowing you to measure accurately, which is why you make paper templates.

For the best advice from Sam, upload photos of your bay window to the opennshut website.
