Please read the full description before watching the video. Thank you.

Channel 4 explores the dramatic stories of individual firemen on September 11: the stories of those who died, those who survived and those who still bear the scars.

Of the 2752 people who died on 9/11, 343 were New York firemen - by far the greatest loss of life by any emergency service in the world in a single day.

Ten years on, many of the firemen and their families are finally able to speak about this for the first time. Their courage and sacrifice made them national heroes but in the 10 years since many have paid a terrible price for their bravery.

This film tells the story of the close-knit and unusual brotherhood who call themselves 'New York's Bravest', and shows how their bold tradition of rushing into the heart of skyscraper fires cost lives - but saved many more

First broadcast by UK's Channel Four inAugust 2011.

Could people please refrain from using really bad language and also keep the insults to a minimum. If you have intelligence there is no need to devolve the language, regardless of how emotional these films make you feel. Please.

  • they should of put the airbag bottom of the towers to safe the jumpers :(

  • @xBilabong69x

That definitely wouldn't have worked and where would they have put the airbags... the jumpers were falling everywhere.

  • @TheMKMonarch the jet fuel if you know jets is in the wings of the plane and could easily flood down. how is liquid fuel going to aerosolize. some maybe but not most dumb person. it happened accept it. if you believe in conspiracy theories you are a kook. a whacko a moron and an idiot. people died there

  • this is the worst disaster on american soil ever. think of that. ever. the nyfd tried thier best awesome story. the best of our generation. so sad though, so brave the true way of america.

  • @lisa14811

But his brother Kevin Pfeifer did not survived.

  • chief phifer survived

How can the jet fuel get into the shafts of lower local elevator banks since those had no connection to the impact zones? That doesn't make any sense. Btw, the fuel would dispersed laterally and aerosolized by impact. It wouldn't flooding down the elevator shafts like a huge waterfall. Most the fuel was ejected and burned outside, FYI.

  • Chief Pfiefer, sorry if i spelled it wrong. I watched the documentary and it made me so sad that he tried to find his boys a safe exit and in return he didnt make it out. *sighhh just speechless you know

  • @TheMKMonarch The answer is very simple; flights 11 & 175 had just been refueled with 10,000+ gallons. Upon impact, the wings disintegrated releasing all of that fuel which immediately exploded; the excess fuel had no place to go except DOWN (into the elevator shafts). It only took one spark to ignite the fuel inside of the elevator shafts causing massive explosions at the bottom of the shafts.

  • 343 firemen were killed. one of them was my uncle John RIP to all of you

  • did these guys get time and a half/
