Final Fantasy 13 SCNAUNUW Challenge - Final Boss 2nd Form (Boss 28)

Single Crystarium, No Accessory Upgrades, No Ultimate Weapons challenge.

The final form of the final boss!

Normally this phase is incredibly easy and a very fast battle but in a low level game it's not so easy.

This phase is the easiest of the final 3 bosses but it's still difficult and one of the hardest bosses in the game especially when you don't know what to expect, when you know what to expect then it's not so bad as long as you can kill it within 2 staggers as you'll have plenty of time, if not then going for 3 staggers is a bit more challenging but with some luck you'll eventually manage it.

Snow MUST be the leader for his high HP and Sentinel defense bonus otherwise Kleidoscope Ray will kill you, I also used Light and Hope as they both have medic for quick heals after his more damaging attacks and they also both have rav for fast staggers, Light also has com for the damage you need whilst Orphan is staggered.

Start in com/rav/syn to buff and get a stagger gauge going then switch to rav/rav/syn to finish off buffs and get the stagger gauge up quickly, when Hope has finished with buffs switch over to rav/rav/rav for a quick stagger then get 2 more full ATB's in on him before switching over to com/com/med (You want him at around 900%+ stagger), hopefully you can take over half his HP here, 1/3rd is ok too as you can stagger him at least 3 times over the course of the fight.

If you need to heal when Orphan isn't staggered then switch over to rav/rav/med, when Orphan readies Kleidoscope Ray switch to a sen/med/med quickly otherwise you're at high risk of being 1 shotted as this can do as high as 6k damage so always be ready to switch by looking out for this attack, also when Orphan recovers from stagger it uses Rebirth which deals alot of damage and he can end up killing you from the black orb attack as it uses it straight after before you have a chance to heal and with possible low HP from going on the offensive during the stagger it may well kill you so to avoid this switch to sen/med/med after it recovers from stagger.

After a few attempts and some luck then Orphan will bite the dust and the challenge is complete! It was alot of hard work but it was a great achievement, if anyone else is up for it then good luck!

Why take this challenge?

It's very challenging and doesn't require much grinding/farming, in fact gil farming isn't required, I never did it at all and only did a bit of CP grinding when I got to chapter 11.

Recomended Roles:

To clarify on single crystarium - This means you can only level 1 type of role, recommended roles are as follows:
Lightning - Com (Highly recommended)
Snow - Sen (100% must have)
Sazh - Syn (Could be changed - It isn't a must have but Haste is great until/if Hope learns at chapter 12 it if you take him the Syn route)
Hope - Syn (Highly recomended but may be able to be changed only for med)
Vanille - Sab (100% needed)
Fang - Com (Highly recommended)

Really Sazh or Hope are the only ones you may want to change (1 of them definately needs to be Syn though), the others are highly recommended though, Vanille needs Sab no matter what and same goes to Snow's Sen.

For those not sure about Sazh's and Hope's Syn's then Sazh gets Haste, Bravery and Faith early and he also gets En-spells (Enfire, Enblizzard, etc.) which are unique to him, Hope gets Protect and Shell early and Bar-spells (Barfire, Barthunder, etc.) are unique to him, each character learns the none unique spells come chapter 12.

@Tehgrimreaper Late reply... You asked what the point of the afterstory is. Basically, you have a huge Crystarium upgrade possibility after the game is over, plus you can do all the Cie'th Stones. You cannot do a second walkthrough, as far as I know. But would you really want to do a play with lvl 6 Crystarium from the beginning? I mean, 2k damage easy per shot will take out every enemy until Chapter 5 or so.

Can someone fucking explain to me, what it is im meant to be after I beat Orphan, I was informed that the game is replayble with the characters you played with on the first playthrough, but how in the fuck am I suppose to do that, i've tried everytthing, the biggest shred of hope i've had on the 2nd playthrough so far, is reloading my completed save, and checking my crystarium , which said it's bene updated, but that doesn't really count as a second playthrough, seeing as i've beaten the story?
