As a child, I remember driving my aunt and uncle almost crazy during the summer holidays, I loved this record so much I set the auto-changer on their radiogram to replay and almost wore it out (hence the hisses and crackles which you can hear, as my aunt gave it to me about 20 years later!)

  • @rhodie007 - you must have lived in Salisbury then? Our family lived in Umtali - moved to the U.K.Dec 78. On leaving, we stopped half way up Christmas Pass to take a final look back - only time I ever recall seeing my late mother cry. Having been back in this cesspit of a country since- I consider it my good fortune on an almost daily basis to have lived there. Hoping to retire to Spain - lovely little town called Jalon (Alicante) basically, Umtali in Spain ! - keep well & take care

  • Thanks for posting this, but please won't you play the flip side which is "Jo'burg Talking Blues"?

  • @RHODESIA111 What a question! Really enjoyed listening to this song again! Reminded me of Eskimo Hut, Haddon & Sly, Meikles etc! Take care and God bless.

  • @hauntboy Jeremy Taylor was a teacher in Joburg and he was interested in the Sarfeffrican accent. So he made this record and the rest is history.
