Build the Future highly recommends using a simple Drip Irrigation System when planting gardens in South Africa. It helps to ensure the growth of the garden, its easy to install and easy to maintain. With the water shortage in South Africa, the families can use their waster water from washing, cooking and cleaning to water their gardens. The soap in the water will help keep insects from eating the leaves and watering the garden will not take away from their drinking water. All the drip systems that have been installed by Build the Future teams have been in squatter camps and informal settlements surrounds Johannesburg and White River. Planting is done on either side of each "puddle"
