After doing Scrapheap it took just a couple of weeks to modify, improve and mount the original SHC (10hr) built engine onto this TKM chassis. This is the first movie I shot of the kart.

  • Why wouldn't the afterburner work on Scrap Heap Challenge.

It was sad that it failed in the end. Was it an oil pump failure?

  • nowhere near enough fuel flow!...it was a stinking hot day and without provision oil cooling we didn't have enough time between runs to let her cool down, the pump couldn't flow enough oil to get the pressure high enough - on run 2 it dropped to below 10psi with combustor pressure at P2 we were in the danger zone of gasses pushing back though the bearings, could've made a last run but bowed out to save an explosive deconstruction!

  • sorry p2 was above 50psi..meant to say.
