I´m back!
And this time with an ´not so good´ game.
Just watch and be amazed.

  • ZX Spectrum version kicks the shit out of this. Terrible colours, slow and tiny awful sprites.

  • I agree. I saw an video of the ZX Spectrum-Version last week. The only thing, that wasn´t so impressive was the music. But all in all the best conversion of this game so far (as I know).

  • Enduro racer.. what a mess.

I remember the only good version was on Spectrum 48k. Shame it was only black n green, black n beige. But it was playable, and it looked in a way like the original coin op!

The C=64 was a shame. Nothing like the arcade. Sprites are jumpy and small.

I tried the Sega master system version and still.. looks a lot like the commodore 64.

MAME emulator doesnt support Enduro Racer.

In 2010 the only way to play Enduro Racer at home is on the Spectrum 48k!

  • POWER DRIFT was very good on C-64!

  • In the uk when the c64 was out, games were mostly on tape(cassette), in the usa and i am guessing in germany they were on disk, there were less problems with disks.

  • This game was always considered a POS on the C64. Even in it's day it was ranked as one of the worst arcade conversions of all time scoring 16% in Zzap 64 who said "The most disappointing and unrepresentative arcade conversion available." Interestingly enough you compare it to Outrun which also wasn't really a great C64 version. Zzap gave that one 68%. I think Buggy Boy was probably the best C64 arcade racing conversion!

  • Hi, where did you get that version of Space Harrier? I've never seen that version with the striped floor - the official release only had a solid grey floor IIRC. Cheers

  • i had this on c64......it really was bad

  • I remember enjoying playing this but by no means is it one of the better racers for the C64. The graphics aren't that bad but the animation is slow and jerky as hell. Good music, though.

About halfway through the video you mention the background blinking. On what were you running the game? It's just that I sure don't remember any blinking on the real machine, nor does it blink on VICE 2.0. /raina

  • I used to play this and Super Hang-On on C64 quite a lot. As a kid, it was easy to forgive and forget the bad sides of these games. Nothing really mattered as long as there were games that I was able to play.

    Good review, by the way.

  • And its interesting that in this version you have a motocycle instead of a car and the movement sucks but on the original it rocks and even you have various obstacles (ice, night driving etc.).

    ON AN ATARI 2600!!!

God this is impossible. How can they SCREW UP A CONVERSIONL TO C64 SO BADLYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

  • the original is atari 2600 and its actually A GOOD GAME
