Something I wrote inspired by my experience with domestic violence, and the heartbreak it causes the victim after it all is said and done.

My husband beat me up on Dec. 30th, 2007 causing me eight hours of reconstructional surgery to my face.

Only 5% of women leave their abuser after the first time they get hit. This would make me 5% of abused women.

If anyone watching this is being abused, or knows someone who is, please do the deed and help out anyway you can before it is too late.

Feel free also to write me a message or comment.

  • I admire you for leaving! I was in my abusive relationship for four years before I finally figured out how to leave him and stay gone. I actually had to move far away from my home town just to stay away from him. He was very very determined to keep me. He went as far as threaten my friends and family. I stayed mainly for them until he started abusing my oldest son. That is where I had to draw the line! Best wished to u and ur new future!!!!

  • I'm glad you had the strength to leave after the first time. I know so many women who stay and keep telling themselves it will get better or that it's their fault. I was looking for videos/poems similar to my own when I found yours. It's on my page if your interested. God bless

  • Very touching. My heart goes out.

  • Thank God you're shot of him! You should be really proud of yourself! The poem is very touching! X

  • Hello, fall in love with poetry instead. --The blood jet is poetry there is no stopping it--Sylvia Plath-- 1932 - 1963

  • the really sad thing about this is that you have to write and reflect upon it....rather than the multitude of happy things a girl of your age should be experiencing...and perhaps...putting those thoughts into words....

there is this thought...."we must leave the life we have planned....for the one that awaits us...." better days ahead missy...... :)

  • You described perfectly how I feel right now, only I didn't marry the guy. It's so difficult to love the person and have them say they "love" you yet their actions toward you aren't reflecting love

  • I can see where your coming from, I wasn't able to get out of a bad relationship... Its funny how I thought I couldn't leave thinking everything would be ruined, now that I did leave I discovered that I saved myself

  • any guy would be happy with you... He has very poor judgement =(

  • in England - a terd
