The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provided the DOE Office of River Protection and prime contractor, Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS), with $326 million and an incredible opportunity to reshape the landscape of Hanford's tank farms.
In Sept. 2011, WRPS completed more than 130 ARRA-funded projects while meeting 100 percent of its key milestones safely, on time and on budget. This video provides a brief overview of some of the projects completed that leave the tank farms better prepared to retrieve and treat the 56 million gallons of radioactive waste stored in Hanford's 177 underground tanks.
