Originally invented by Richard Waters, the waterphone contains a small amount of water which moves around inside the waterphone, and causes constant changes in pitch.

This particular waterphone was produced by an unknown sculptor in New York City under the brand name "Aquasonic".

We correctly call it the "waterphone" as the name rightfully reflects the name of it's original inventor, Richard Waters, and the fact that it uses water to help produce the strange etherial tones.

Watch as Thomas Grillo endures one minor technical difficulty after another as he attempts to demonstrate the Aquasonic Super Mondo Waterphone.

  • Like if Storage Wars brought you here :)

  • @CrazyManIV I've heard about that episode which featured someone finding a waterphone in a storage room. LOL ;)

  • @ThomasGrillo I wish I could find a waterphone or a theremin in storage. That would be awesome.

  • @MuttonAndTheHam I'm sure they're out there. I've seen threads at thereminworld (see my channel for link), where people have stored theremins for decades only to be found by future generations of family. One person even put a 1929 RCA theremin on the curb thinking it was a radio that nolonger worked. Yeh, those would be cool to find in storage. :)

  • Sounds just like the strange noises everyone's hearing across the globe....very weird!

  • @BornInTzyon Indeed. :)

  • @Liam2020 The point of this video was to demonstrate the device as an effects device. It's not, and never was designed to play music. It's meant to produce scary sounds. The video just mainly shows what that device is, and how it's used. You've heard it in many movies and tv shows where something bad is about to happen. :)

  • @Snowuk95 Yeh, LOL. It's an effects demo, not a musical performance. Your ears and head will feel much better after checking out my theremin musical videos. ;)

  • @the26thhour I'll have to give that some consideration. Let's see now. Legos, toy hospital, charactors, mad junk science scene animation, waterphone, theremin, um, yeh, I think that might not be too far off. ;)

  • Could you please make a classic horror score using the Waterphone & Theremin

  • @jpjb83 LOL! ;)

  • How appropriate is it that the guy vaguely resembles Stephen King?
