@Zatzzo Hello Zatzzo! Yes, the crusades were atrocities (though arguably the 300 years of Islamic attacks they responded to were even more so).

The crusades were a Vatican initiative. The Vatican is not, and never has been a Christian organisation. I suggest that most who took part in the Crusades were atheists or pagans. Christ never gave His followers permission to take up violence to accomplish their goals. In fact he prevented violence. (more)

just because they were all atheists, doesnt mean that was what caused them to commit their crimes. you might as well say, well they were all dark haired - hitler, stalin, pol pot, thats what they all have in common, therefore their hair must be the reason. king leopold II of belgium killed 10 - 15 million between 1880 and 1920, did he need atheism to do it? no, he was just ruthless and greedy. what about the crusades? these were horrendous atrocities.
