  • Let's not forget that he also wrote "Lament," one of the greatest ballads ever.

  • Is it just me, or is the audio just far enough off sync so it's harder to transcribe?

  • @XephSlayer JJ used a few different setups, but in this recording he was playing a Yamaha 691 with his vintage King M-21 mouthpiece.

  • Does anyone know what equipment JJ used? I love that sound to death.

  • JJ Johnson single-handedly brought the trombone into the modern era of Jazz by being the first trombonist to be able translate the rapid solo lines of bebop on trombone. Others followed his pioneering lead. In order to really appreciate JJ Johnson's Virtuosity you have to actually listen to his recordings from the 1950s . He is amazing!!! What is really amazing, is he set the standard of what modern trombone playing is... He has no equal...

  • @Beast6060 YES YES YES BOP

  • @shoegazer666 This guy? That's J.J. Johnson, he paved the way for trombones in be bop. He has an amazing way of soloing.

  • Unique all the way

  • is this bebop?
