So I'm getting ready to pass a parked vehicle when I'm all of a sudden passed myself. Wasn't too happy about the fact that the driver who came by didn't seem to notice the proximity of the oncoming vehicle, or the parked one, or me for that matter. Must have accidentally hit the invisible mode switch when I turned that rear light on.
That's frightening!
You ncould've done with being further out thewre mate.... certainly out of the door zone.

Ideally yes, I would have moved out of the door zone but I could see this car coming up behind me, the driver of which for some reason felt it was ok to make that pass and showed no signs of deviating from their course. This is a tricky road, very very wide, with parked cars either side and speed cushions to force drivers into head-on situations. A new feature on my usual route and not one that I'm taking a liking to.

This is why I tend to pull out to pass parked cars really early, like you did. Unfortunately this can anger some

Yes, positioning yourself ahead of time is the best way to avoid these things, sadly it doesn't work in every occasion. Most of the time it does work though and if it doesn't, you've usually got somewhere to move into to avoid the accident. I also think that most drivers get the point and don't get angry, especially if you move back when it's safe and give them a wave to say "thanks". Safety comes first.
