www.johnjamesguitarist.com - Biography of guitarist/singersongwriter JOHN JAMES. A pioneering figure of the acoustic music scene of the 1970's, famous not only for his acoustic guitar playing, but for his many entertaining and humorous performances.
Just after seeing him couple of weeks ago he is still amazing. He also has a new album out called guitar greats, its worth buying because its briliant
I also heard him first around 1972 on a compilation LP called "Picture Rags" (Transatlantic Sampler) In Melody Maker he was hailed as "The Welsh Django Reinhardt"
Saw him a few times live in the same year. Wonderful musician.
The brilliant John James has agreed to put on a show at Rugby Cultural Festival in July this year (2011) - tickets and details available by phoning 01788 535020 or emailing soundsmusic@hotmail.com.
I discovered John James in 1972 with "Picture Rag." It was a real "shock". Since then, I remain a fan of this great guitarist. A musician who combines virtuosity and beauty. Regards, Joel ...
THE best ragtime fingerstyle player to have ever come out of the British Isles - so very glad to see he is back playing and doing some concerts. Here is hoping we get some new CDs from him; that older material is re-released and that he gets the chance to produce some DVD based teaching materials covering his style. Wonderful stuff !!!!
