Students work hard in school and participate in extra-curricular activities to make their college admission application look strong. However, because different schools have different academic standards, one way for admissions' officials to judge all the students from the same yardstick is to look at their scores on standardized tests, such as SAT, GMAT, GRE etc. Many international students tend to consider these exams very tough and think of their test scores as one of the most important parts of their application. In this Campus report Sarah Zaman talks to Andrew Flagel, Dean of Admissions at GMU and tries to clear some of the myths surrounding the purpose and role of standardized test, particularly at the undergraduate level.
