@MyNokiaBlog No, keys and coins wouldn't scratch glass either, but any dirt containing the slightest hint of quartz (or certain other minerals) readily scratch glass ("Gorilla Glass" too), because it has greater Mohs hardness.
And you can find that kind of dirt almost everywhere outside your house. Or sometimes inside your pockets ;-)
