  • @Hfarah31 I see what you mean about appreciating the technique. I suppose you are listening to it from the performative aspect. Of course I can't argue about the composition while you argue about its transcription or performance. Agreed, the technique is great for this.

I don't however agree that the song has nothing interesting. What you said would be like criticizing Flight of the Bumble Bee for going up and down the chromatic scale.

  • @ZeitOner sure... but all im saying is that musically this song has nothing interesting. it just goes up and down a minor scale and various chromatic scales. Where its beauty lies is in its insanely hard to master technique that not a lot of oud players can pull off.

  • Wait, are these compositions all based on Western scales and conventions? Will someone who knows help? Thanks :)

  • @Hfarah31 Without notes there is no technique. Without technique there are no notes.

  • @zihgir doesnt really matter since this song's genius lies with its technique and not its notes

  • It sounds so big, I can't believe its less than 2.5 minutes long!

  • @wang0fett

  • yes, he was awesome and he also influenced a lot of oud players. I used to play that piece.
