While riding on a ferry between Isle Royale and Copper Harbor, we passed a ship. It was way cool.

  • I suggest you watch Deadliest Catch for some of the answers.

Btw, at first didn't you think they were going to answer some of those questions that were brought up?

  • @moochercat

Hi there. I wanted to get credit for a class.....it was my first shot at trying to make videos to use inthe classroom. I am a little better now....:)

    Hope you enjoyed it

  • If this was June of 2007, that was the Yamaska. Built 1985 Japan, 581' long, owned out of the Marshall Islands, managed out of Greece, & registered in Liberia. Possibly crewed by folks from, Russia, India, or the Philippines.

On this trip she carried steel likely from Europe to Chicago and in this video was sailing empty to Duluth, MN. There she loaded bentonite clay from Wyoming and likely destinatined for England, Norway, the Netherlands, Libya, or Venezuela.

  • thanks!@

  • Good vid! The music is a little harsh...I was waiting for the sea monster to eat the ship.

  • If you really wonder about the cargo....I watched a movie that I still find myself thinking about that happens but this is a Hollywood movie on a much grander

scale. Its called "shuttle". I hate that I watched it.

  • it's actually a boat

  • hi!. i just recently went to isle royale on the isle royale queen IV and the captian said that we were going an average speed of 16 MPH a great lakes ship can go about 16-18 knots on open lakes.

  • @yivit2000 That's cool. It does help to know the back story on this. I'll be heading up to Isle Royale in about 4 weeks, leaving on the Winona from Grand Portage, MN. I took the Copper Point boat last August... no ships though! Thanks for posting.

  • is this a joke?
