Filling the Blanks is a 45 minute documentary unfurling in three chapters showcasing the lives of different women ? Chitralekha, Elizabeth, Jamila, Teresa, Lissy and others, who are trying to live differently. Certain schemes of the government, for example the PMRY, and some non-governmental initiatives, have encouraged women to take that different step in their life, but living differently isn't easy.

Women living together with their children and no male live-in support are also considered a threat to the moral psyche/fabric of society. The travails of one such family is also brought forth in Filling the Blanks.

A microcosm of these daring and different means of livelihood fraught with humiliation, contempt, and survival strategies are the major thrusts of Filling the Blanks.
