but remember she originated from a different clan... a Cro- Magnon clan people much smarter than the 'flat heads' or neanderthals. so she very well could be smarter than the smartest flat head, which would be Creb in this case...
I don't know if I visualized it well but this is not the way I saw the Clan while reading the book. I thought Auel refers them as the Homo Sapiens, not yet evolved in the human form. that's how I imagined them as flatheads. but in the movie here suggests that the Clan still looked like humans. It got me a little bit confused. but still I can't help but fall in love with Ayla. I just finished book 4 Plains of Passage. Can't wait to start book 5 and wait for the sixth.
The only thing that annoyed me about her writing was that when she described an animal, she gave it's old name, then said "like it's smaller ancestors of later years," Well, how are we supposed to know that an aurochs is a COW when you don't tell us? Maybe those paragraphs are restricted to nerds only. Ah well.
@alingkokok Neanderthals were extremely human-like because they were HUMAN, just not modern Homo sapiens man. The only thing that physically differentiated H. neandertalensis from anatomically modern man (Ayla's people, in this case) were large brow ridges and a shortier, stockier build, including a barreled chest. In reality they didn't look much different from us.
