Milwaukee Road 261 arrives east bound at the Wisconsin Dells (08-17-2008). It was pulling an eleven car passenger consist on that day. The diesel is mainly used for head end power to provide electricty for the coaches. It is also required by the CP, to run on their line, for back up power in case there would happen to be a problem with the steam locomotive. The train ran from Milwaukee, WI to New Lisbon, WI and return. With an additional passenger stop, in both directions, at the Wisconsin Dells, WI.

  • They actually need to diesel only if there are passengers on board for insurance reasons and obviously the HEP. When they run these excursions they run them as a second AMTK #7/#8, that's why they make all the station stops Amtrak does...

  • that's me in the tan hat with a camcorder right in front of your camcorder and asking the lady to move back - nice video - check my posting at 'hojimbo'
