Tamaki Miura "Un bel dì vedremo" US Recording

Tamaki Miura is said to have been the first Japanese to sing at the MET. She recorded Un bel dì at least twice more electrically in Japan on 10 inch. This is an US recording on single side 12 inch.

  • Oh, this is very good! By the way, do you have any recordings of Toshiko Sekiya?

I am very interested in her since her grandfather, General Legendre from France, had somewhat important role in Korean history.

I managed to have one of Sekiya's record, but since it was so worn out, the sound is terrible.

  • I am not convinced in Miura's performance whether she was really first grade international singer... This is a kind of 'record' that a Japanese artist recording classic music on major label for the first time. As for Sekiya she is Japanese Dal Monte, and I am collecting her records eagerly. I have quite a number of her recordings at Victor, but none of acoustic recordings prior to trip to Italy for vocal training. If you wish I can try.

Diresse l'orchestra Adolfo Alvisi

  • I have an original 16th century ceramic Japanese painting that belonged to her. She kept it with her at every performance. She gave it to a friend’s father that owned an oriental antique shop in New York’s Chinatown. I’m trying to sell it for him. Can anyone point me in the right direction? This painting is as amazing as is the story behind it. Thanks

  • Est-elle obligée,pour imager la scène,d'imiter la sirène du bateau?

  • Many thanks! I just looked her up in Wikipedia. Very interesting to hear this!

    Greetings, Rolf, Netherlands
