  • Thank you for this stunning photo gallery. I have adored the DeCastro Sisters since I was young and used to jive to "Don't call me sweetie". Lovely that you used this song "Flowers on a hillside", which is the most sensitive and touching song on the CD. They really could sing anything. Super voices, and big big hair!!!! Lovely, Glamorous, Talented Ladies!

  • @Globall6 You're Welcome, I got a chance to write to Cherie before she passed away & I got an autograph photo from her. Also a few years ago I made good friends with Peggy's Grand daughter April on Facebook & just last year I became good friends with April's mother on Facebook. I can't get over how much April favors Peggy.

  • The DE Castro sisters we're never as popular as the Mcguire sisters, or the Barry sisters. What a shame to see them all gone, but at least I have their records to remind me how great they really were. R.I.P ladies, and Thank You for your great music and voices.

  • If it hadn't been for sister groups like the Boswell Sisters & the Andrews Sisters. Sisters groups like The Dinning Sisters, De Castro Sisters, Fontane Sisters, McGuire Sisters, & Barry Sisters, they wouldn't be popular. Maxene Andrews said in an interview (If it hadn't been for the Boswell Sisters the Andrews Sisters would be nothing).

  • Thank you very much for this loving tribute to Cherie. This is a BEAUTIFUL song which I had never heard before. Could you please give us the name of this song and tell us if it is available on CD, or if not, what LP it comes from.

  • Your Welcome, The song is Flowers on the Hillside & it is available on the De Castro Sisters Teach Me Tonight Cd. The Cd is available only online. I would check Ebay, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble they will have it I know.

  • Thanks so much for taking the trouble to reply. It's great that you were able to make contact. These ladies really were special. I am a great fan of Carmen Miranda, and was delighted that they appeared in Copacabana. Fabulous as always. I have the two capitol LP's as well. I wish there were more film appearances. It's wonderful that you are keeping their memories and talents alive on Youtube. Best wishes to you from the UK.

  • This song encapsules a life so well. They are unforgettable, quite campy, entertaining and by turns inimitable. Thank you for honoring them.

  • Merci !

    Thanks!

  • I'm so sorry I caught on too late to appreciate these Legendary Ladies of Song. Now there all gone.. But,, Better late then never, as they say. Great video.

  • I was so thrilled to actually meet Cherie DeCastro at a "Latin Legends" panel discussion at the County Museum about two years ago. She was still beautiful and so funny! I'll cherish the photo a friend took of Cherie and me together.

  • Thank you so much for putting this memorial together. Alex and I were watching and listening and remembering the friendship we had with Cherie, Peggy and Olgita while they were in Reno and Lake Tahoe performing. We have wonderful and loving memories of them and it breaks our hearts that they are gone. But at least we can always listen to them as though they are sitting in our living room with us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • Thank you for posting such a touching tribute. I worked with the girls in the late 80's and early 90's. We were the last show at the Silver Slipper in Las Vegas in the fall of '88. There were alot of fun times. I was lucky to go along with musical director Paul Paquette in '89 to Cleveland when we opened for Pat Cooper. That will always be one of my fondest memories with them. We had the greatest time! God bless all 4. They are truly missed and there will never be another like The DeCastros.
