Downsview Park before commercial development. Park original size approximately 600 acres. After development the addition of apartment buildings it will be reduced to less than 200 acres. The community opposes development of park land and very little community consultation has taken place. Any feedback obtained from the community has largely be neglected. This is clearly evident because development including where housing is to be placed was predetermined before any community consultation took place.

The park had an opportunity to do something unique. For instance camping, a small motorized park section, vast hiking trails, a water park, soccer fields, Olympic swimming pools, etc. Instead 400 acres will be removed from the park to add about 20,000 people.
