Michael Chekhov technique being taught by Dawn Arnold at The Moving Dock Theatre. This is an excerpt of an acting workshop in Chicago teaching the Chekhov technique and capturing the process on video...
@rocquesbiz You CAN see the improvement in the acting. And that is within a minute or two. THAT is how powerful this technique is. Maybe Alicia Or dawn (the two ladies teaching in this video) can talk more about it. I wasn't actually there to be able to comment on it.
Wow this is amazing!! The Chekhov technique blows my mind I am so excited to learn more about it. More people need to know about this because I have grown so much from it as an actor. It's incredible!
@alikaha1 Right??? The Chekhov technique is so different than anything I've studied before. Making the actor an artist again, and not simply saying the lines clearly and not bumping into the furniture is truly an empowering thing. To have a psychological gesture within you that never allows you to become self-conscious on stage is brilliant! This has to be one of the best acting workshops in chicago that I've been a part of. Can't wait to study with Dawn again...
Michael Chekhov really knew what he was doing. This technique designed for actors of the stage or screen is practical, totally accessable and reaps incredible results! The only place to study Chekhov as taught by a Master Teacher (taught by Chekhov's own pupils) is at The Moving Dock with Dawn Arnold. She's amazing!!!!
I've watched Dawn Arnold teach the Michael Chekhov technique. What a great tool the psychological gesture is for actors! This very well could be one of the best acting classes in chicago!
Listening to her performance of these lines, without watching the video, seems to have an effect on me. I can't seem to stop watching this video...

Anyone notice you can play with the speeds on videos in youtube? Try it out here when the lines are being performed. It's pretty cool! :)
Just click on the word "normal" at the bottom right of the video screen and put it on 1/2 speed...
