A highlight video of some of the results achievable with yarn-based cloth simulation and adaptive contact linearization. All models in this video are created from yarns virtually knitted together to form various types of cloth, with some models containing nearly 55,000 knit loops in constant close contact. Individual contacts between yarn pieces are simulated using linearized models that are adaptively updated for each contact based upon a deformation metric. Model updates are shown in red and overemphasized, showing that the vast majority of the cloth can use linearized models for long periods of time before needing to be rebuilt.
