A clip from a video recorded live in Memphis, Tennessee at Club NightMoves in 1989.

Here's Target raw with all the realism of being there, including people standing directly in front of you blocking the view from time to time.

It's amazing that this videotape of Jimi Jamison and his former (pre-Survivor) band exists and even more amazing that the camera's audio was tied into the band's audio mixing console for a far from perfect but very listenable experience!

TARGET
Jimi Jamison - Vocals
Buddy Davis - Guitar
Paul Cannon - Guitar
Tommy Cathey - Bass

Drummer Note: Neither of Target's "traditional" drummers (David Spain, Bill Marshall) were available for this reunion engagement, so Greg Morrow stepped in and did a killer job!

Keyboard Note: Any help in identifying the keyboard player would be definitely appreciated.

  • Love the chat going on here! I went to the trouble of posting these clips so folks would get in touch and share their own experiences. Thanks for making it happen.

  • some high school gym!!

Did Target the store have to pay royalties for the name?

  • Gym? Hardly. Club NightMoves, Memphis.

You are correct that the band's name predates the store, tho! Target formed in the very early '70s. The joking reference to their "10 year reunion" refers to it being 10 years after they "graduated" (broke up the band).

  • Where was this filmed?

  • Club NightMoves, Memphis, Tennessee, USA

  • Jimmy (Jimi) Jamison never sounded better. I remember going to Club Kaiser and High Cotton to see TARGET perform. I know Alex Chilton of the Box Top did pretty well. Big Star went on to be one of the most influential bands. Where has everyone gone. I guess they all went the way of The Shell, Poets Music Hall etc.

  • AWESOME!! Tommy Cathey & Greg Morrow are AMAZING together!! When can we see the whole show??
