  • The coolest thing about this video I think is pointing out the fact you have the choice to move between any distro you happen to like. Dislike this one, move to that one. Dislike this aspect, hack it up yourself. Oh yes, choice is good. I dont care which one you use but use GNU/Linux. Heck, compose your own!

  • @daeamarth :) I agree entirely, and I've been doing a lot of moving around lately for the distro reviews. Loads of fun.

  • I really like fedora. I started there with Fedora Core 1. I like the file structure better in fedora, maybe I'm just use to it. We use Fedora at work so when I have to configure something I know right where to go, on Ubuntu I have to look things up at times. I also love chkconfig, I wish ubuntu had something like this installed by default.

But I do like the apt package manager way better than yum. I always seam to run into problems with yum and I haven't run into any with apt.

  • Yum has definitely come a long way in the last few years. The old stereotype was "if you use yum, you'll constantly be fighting to find dependencies". not so much anymore.

  • btw off topic: @thisweekinlinux the ubuntu one music store preview is out, take a look at it (alan pope's blog). would like to know what u think of it.

  • I haven't had a chance to look at the music store yet, but if it's in Alpha 3 I'll load my virtual machine back up and check it out. Thanks TheArnabDas!

  • No fedora for me, yes ubuntu.

  • Thanks! I'm sure the Fedora marketing team would appreciate it.

  • Since a long time i wanted to try out Fedora, so now i may be install it after its new release. But nevertheless, Ubuntu will be my clear number one, its stable, its most popular and so brings the Linux-Revolution into the future. But as i said, i am curious about Fedora, so i cant wait to see the release. Maybe it got a slogan then, who knows ?

  • @thisweekinlinux; Thanks for the response.
