  • i bought 2 red zebra cichlids today and know nothing about them could you help me out if there m or f thanks

  • @steob450

Added a link to an article on sexing them in the description.

I sold these guys about a year ago, all the spawning got a little hectic with all the other fish (mostly fuelleborni and peacocks) in the 180 gallon. About twice a year I'd have to tear down the tank and take out around 75 fish that survived the big guys.

  • ive read in many articles that its rare to find a red male zebra cichlids.. how did u come upon one? my orange female and blue male zebra's mated about a week ago.. the female is still holding.. will the babies have a speckled color to them?

  • It's pretty common to find red males in stores, just not in the wild.

Some males are blue, or the your male could be a Metriaclima callainos. It's possible that few fry could be OB (blotched). But I thinks it's more likely you will just have a few blue males and some orange females if they are both M. estherae.

  • mine started spawning at around 3 inches

  • @guycalledjim it depends on if they have mated b4 if they have mated a few time it could be about 2-3 turns and if they are new couple if could be upto 5 look at some of my vids (the update has a zebra obilquin holding eggs

  • How long do they do the dance before the female actually starts to lay eggs?

  • would the red zebras be known as a VERY aggresive cichlid

my female is about 3-4 inches

and my male is about 2 inches would mate or is the age difference to high

  • @booty990 it all depends. I am sure it might go that way but I guess anything is possible>.
