@No1emilybrowningfan Well saied. And Jan was blessed to have a true friend in Dean. When things are good it is easey to be a friend little to nothing is requried of you. BUT to be a TRUE friend when the worst happens is rare and a blessing to both parties. Rock on Dean. RIP Jan, you are very much missed.

I believe--don't quote me, but I'm almost certain, " The Fantastic Baggys", aka, Phil Sloan, Steve Barri & the guys, , backed Dean on this. I own this single, & yes, it was after Jan's horrible accident. Does anyone remember, also from summer of '66, " Impressions", by The Jones Boys? Wolfsky9

This is a really nice track. Well played and obviously a well budgeted recording. I like the little "tip of the hat" to "Theme From A Summer Place" in the tag.

I love this song. I love everything Jan and Dean did. It is very heatrbreaking to watch the Deadman's Curve movie where Jan is in hospital after the accident, Dean plays him this song, Jan has tears coming down his eyes and he throws the record player on the fllor cos it is too heartbreaking for him to hear it. What happened to Jan was utter tragic (same sort of thing that happened to Christopher Reeve), but he kept going and like Chris, he died well before his time. Will miss him and his music!
Great site Garageband66!...I was fortunate enough to see Jan and Dean in concert in Dallas many years ago...they sounded terrific...I really do miss this genre of music...I guess not since Henry Gross have we had some sort of great falsetto-based hit.

Oh I don't know, She's So High Above Me by Tai Bachman (Randy's son) comes to mind.
The other reason could be that there is so much crap these days that passes for music.

Gb66 - You've hit the nail, spot on ! I said on one similar site I visited (Carl doing the song "Heaven") that Carl was the glue that binded the BB band together for so long. I agree with you 100%. You really know your stuff !!

Sounds as if you know your stuff as well. Followed the Beach Boys throughout their career through all the changes. Carl to me was the Beach Boys' George Harrison. He could have been a great solo artist and did release two very good solo albums in the early and mid 80's. It's hard to shake that Beach Boy image but make no mistake about it, Carl Wilson rocked.

Yes, gb66, I have Dennis' LP - actually signed by him, during the B.Boys 1978 tour in Sydney, Australia. And yes, I am a big fan of Dennis. He was a very under-rated, but nevertheless very talented composer in his own right. It just must have run in all of the Wilson family's blood-lines (even Murry had an 'embryonic' talent, but sadly was so jealous of his son Brian's success, it mucked Brian right up).

Well that and the fact Murray nearly beat Brian to death on occasion, causing his deafness in one ear, and probably contributed with Brian's mental and drug addiction too.
Dennis' problems just were simply living a life of excess. I really believe Carl was almost shoulder to shoulder with Brian in ability. Carl ran things for years on the road and did not do a bad job in the studio either. If Carl were still alive the band would still be playing as a group.
