Quake 4: Blaster Vs. Lieutenant Voss (General Difficulty)

Voss will only use his lightning gun if you stay in the right range.

Destroy the spawn pods with the rocket launcher.

This was done on the hardest level of difficulty, General.

I'm playing through the whole game using nothing but the blaster (except vehicle levels, of course), on Private difficulty. I'm about to help the two guys secure the bridge, just before taking the tram to the processing tower. I have to say it's been a cakewalk so far, I haven't died once. Even Voss and the (first) Makron were relatively easy. I bet Nexus Core and a few other parts are gonna be a PITA, but it's doable, and it's probably doable in Corporal level too.

it didn't seem like he put up a fight. i think whether or not this is on general difficulty is in question, but nonetheless you have some good skill.

I agree - though I think it is a small glitch with the game. If you stay within a certain distance he will only use his lightning gun, and it is extremely easy to dodge. If you step back a bit then he pulls out the rockets and dark matter gun. It took me many tries to figure this out, but once I did it was extremely easy. It is on general difficulty, you can try it. just stay within that same distance

You get a more powerful charge from the pistol if you hold the mouse down for few seconds before you release it. The extra power makes it a mini grenade.

Yeah I used it some in this video, but it seems to be quicker if you just use the primary fire as fast as possible.

WHAT?? This guy game me hell when I fought him on Lieutenant difficultly! I had no idea that there was a sweet spot to stand in to easily defeat him!

@subinbar I haven't played this game in ages now, but I finished the game using nothing but the blaster (except the Nexus' shield, which regenerates faster than you can damage it, so I used rockets) on all difficulties except the hardest one. On the hardest one, I got as far as the hall in Nexus Core where you have 3 light tanks, 3 heavy tanks and 2 protectors that spawn. The heavy tanks are very difficult, I kept dying and eventually got bored, but I'm sure that it's doable.

@Die1101 I personally find the Blaster is pretty awesome. A charged shot and a couple of wimpy shots kills the common dudes, and it kills the rest of them pretty effectively too.
