Testing a project im now working on for a new MMO. It connects to a MSSQL 2005 database to check user information and if all is well it logs into a smartfox server to serve up the locations and chat of the players. We will use smartfox until i build my own custom server. Played with cursor locking as well as fixing it so you dont move when typing and gave a basic exit menu that locks down movement but allows for the cha rto keep going under momentum and gravity.

  • Lerpz? I hope you aren't selling this...

  • @pspiq3 lol i do hope you can read. tell me what the title says. i think i see a word in there "Test" aka not an actual product, AKA not for sale?

  • Another question, what kind of particle emitter did you use for the things blowing in the air on the login screen?

  • @macgeek1972 just a regular emitter... different tangent settings and such to make them move in randomish directions and up.

  • so you managed to get a working server connection? in other words, could two users log in to the same game world?

  • @DaFleegsta yea multiple players can connect move around and chat it up.

  • top left corner, player info- how did you do that????

  • make a tutorial, on how to create such a perfect terrain like that man o:!

  • beautiful login screen ^^

  • @mystikarts If you're familiar with scripting e.g. : CSharp, C++, Javascript, ... Then Unity shouldn't be to hard for you. Unity comes with alot of helpfull tools which can guide you trough if you kind of don't know anything of scripting.

PS : Unity gameobjects / models are mostly based on scripts to work succesfully.

  • how long did it take you to create that demo.... I'm thinking about using Unity also but I dont know how easy it is to do stuff with...

  • @kilrath81 Cough, whoa, a little harsh don't you think? I thought this was just a yes or no answer. I like the game though. Check out my Unity project "Pantera 3D"!

  • Nice game. I'm playing around with a simple rpg like this but I'm testing out a split-screen kinda feel to it. I'm going for a elder scrolls split screen type if game.

Keep up the good work though. Be glad to see more!
