Great video Mike. I started there in 82 on the inspection, moved to the labs in 83 with Mike Smith, Don and Cyril (can't remember their last names). I was still in the labs when they pulled the shops down. We watch the whole place raised to the ground before the ground works started for the dreadfull merry hill. Sad times mate, ....LONG LIVE THE ROUND OAK !!!

Excellent slideshow Mike. I was employed at Level Street from 1969 until 1981, at which time I emigrated to the USA seeking asylum from the Thatcher regime.
Many, many good memories of the "Ode Level". Sadly, the once vibrant Brierley Hill is almost gone, and a few of the characters I had the pleasure of spending a little time with. Would love to hear from anyone that remembers me. That includes you Geoff Gregory. Email; ingerland@charter.net

What a great slideshow of an iconic British Company, thank you for sharing.
Being born and bred in Dudley I also knew folk who worked at the Round Oak.
It was a shock and sad to read above of the passing of Mick Davies, when did he die?
If you want to share any photographs or memories of the Round Oak, take a look at a photographic site "Flickr - Round Oak Steelworks".
Thanks again for sharing.
