The reason the quality is so awful is because I took it with my camera phone in a pitch-black room to show the backlight bleed.

The video is just to illustrate what Apple has yet to acknowledge: yet another design flaw in one of their products. The sealing around the bezel is faulty and allows light to bleed into the screen in splotches, which can be quite noticeable when watching widescreen videos etc.

  • Wow you hit a double whammy, put the iPad and packaging all back together including the charger and cable and make a genius appt and tell them you were told to get a "retail replacement" only if they are sold out of iPad 2's and they always have a reserved stock in the back made for genius appointments trust me I went to 4 different stores and they will know what you are talking about

  • @hollowman2122 I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. If you do a Google or YouTube search for it you will see a lot of people have noticed this. Getting Apple to replace it now would probably be pointless, as the replacement might be just as bad (or worse). I think it's best to wait a few months until they have fixed the problem at the production line.

  • @Ozzah I doubt it will get fixed, as time goes on more and more lcd manufacturers are rushing the build process and are pumping out inferior screens. Apple, just like every tv and monitor company, buy their screens from dedicated factory's. back light bleed is usually caused byt the screen having areas that are thinner than the rest.
