It was on 1971 at noon at at a court in Santo Domingo in front of the Caribbean Sea. I was having lunch with my family and my newspaper editor called me with urgency. Hey Hector get your camera and run to the court because Elliot Gould is divorcing Barbra Streissand in a few minutes.
I grabbed my camera with 3 or 4 leftover shots and pushed the pedal of my old VW to the floor to try to make on time.

Gould was a leading man until 1981 in films. He even surpassed his wife at a certain level. Too bad though, I've always thought they were still linked 'somewhere'. I was a fan of both.

Gould's film career was pretty much over at this point and he must have been tired of being best known for being Streisand's husband. My guess is he wanted to avoid all the negative publicity he would have gotten if there had been a more high-profile divorce in the U.S. Maybe he wanted to protect Barbra and their son, Jason, from all of that, too.
