this is sad & i have seen it happen at the houses of Allah, may Allah guide us. I feel its because we become entrenched in behaving with how we were raised or our own cultures and Allah knows best. We must remember Adaab is very much a part of Islaam and to throw off how we were raised unless it was from the Sunnah. The Prophet sallalahu alahi wasalam was known to be gentle he was only harsh with what Allah commanded and all else he was SO gentle. A smile is charity..we are brothers and sisters!

a similar situation unfortunately seems to happen on a very frequent basis. Maybe the element of a faith that requires so much discipline creates some people who turn into militants about their faith?

True say,ive had some similar experiences when I first stared attending study circles. I was clean shaven,and was surprised of the amount of staires I got from the brothers. As if theve not seen a guy without a beard before,so eventually I got put from going. But Alhumdholillah some time after I realised not all the brothers are the same on there character and personal approach and I shouldnt stop learning because of a handfull of naive individuals.
