DECEMBER 31, 2011 Yonge and Dundas Street at exactly 3pm. Today a group took over the intersection at Young and Dundas in Toronto. It was to support and educate people to End the killings in Congo. A peacefull protest except for one Paramedic Supervisor who barged her vehicle through traffic without any regard for the safety of people around the vehicle the person was driving..The windshield was blocked with a sign (i don't agree with that) but the driver kept friving the large SUV right through the crowd. A very unsafe Act, and against The City of Toronto's POLICIES on operating a vehicle, as well as in violation of the Highway traffic Act. I will be making a formal complaint into the dangerous driving .. Do the same, Complain to EMS Professional Standards Unit at (416) 392-2222, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. VERY LUCKY NO ONE WAS INJURED. Even the POLICE were caught off guard. Officers were shaking their heads at the driver. I want to know the status of the call, and if this was a proper response to drive dangerously through a PEACEFUL protest.

Notice a protester block the screen with a sign, yet the vehicle kept advancing. I don't agree with that, but it happened. The vehicle should have stopped. Lucky the City is not facing a death at this intersection. It was a lot more shocking than this video shows. The vehicle never stopped. Even when the vision was blocked.

The Ambulance was in NO RUSH after it went through the crowd. Even the sirens were OFF. Kinda weird eh ?

  • maybe you should get the F out of the way for paramedics, your aiding in someones death by refusing to move. your a dispicable, horrible person who should be sent back to congo.

  • go to 2:49 to see the part with the Paramedic supervisor. Also If it was your family member on the wrong end of this call you would be furious. You guys were clearly in the wrong here.

  • "Stop the vehicle!" Are you kidding me? These idiots shouldn't have even been there in the first place...

  • do you really think anyone going to change anything because of this protest in the middle of downtown really... get the fuck out of the way for EMS . maybe its your family member who knows... sad bunch of people... go back home!

  • Get a grip, your protesting the rape and death of women in the Congo , yet you refuse to let a paramedic vehical through and call him recluse , I'd the patient does you should all be charged with obstructing and failing to yield to a emergency vehical

  • You went from peaceful protest to mob with mob rules when you swarmed that emergency vehicle. You could have continued your peaceful protest by making a path but the mob chose otherwise. You can rationalize the 'wrongs' of that vehicle. But when you point make sure you are also able to point back to yourself. I thank you for your message of your problems. I know more now. I also thank Canada for letting you. But don't pretend you know anything about that emergency vehicle's situation.

  • Unbelievable, purposely blocking an AMBULANCE en route to a call. Then you put it on youtube to get sympathy because of the "dangerous actions" of the ambulance? Like has bee said before if it was my family member that the medic was responding too i would be furious!!! In CANADA we yield for emergency vehicles, yes even during "protests"

  • HELLO!!! ambulance...going to help someone whose life is in danger..supposedly you are protesting others being killed and injured yet you want to block an ambulance from going to someone's aid...absolutely moronic to block them..and to complain that you weren't allowed to block an ambulance? good luck there..give your head a shake.

  • @bafanabafana08 ....raise awareness....no ...all you have done is piss off the law abiding citizens of this land...thats all. Lost total respect as soon as the protest blocked an emergency vehicle. Your cause got lost in the aftermath of the behavior of the protestors.

  • absolutely disgusting behavior that is not in the spirit of Canadians....you as a Canadian have the right to protest....but not to stand in the way of emergency vehicles. Whoever labeled this as Dangerous Ambulance Supervisor...did you ever consider that maybe they were rushing to the aid of a child from the Congo who was choking to death...no ...you would not think that would you. Shame. All Canadians are expected to abide by the laws of the land.

  • Should have run over every one of you fools

  • You do realize that when an emergency vehicle has it's siren on all vehicles and pedestrians need to clear its path. What they did was illegal, immoral, and dumb. That EMT was responding to an emergency where somebody's life may have been put in danger because a group of people feel entitled to dance around it.

Everyone has the right to protest but it needs to be done with respect. This is not respect. This is how to lose the support of Torontonians.
